Not from the Phone, but Pertinent Nonetheless

looking like it's gonna be a Category One Hurricane by the time it gets here, but everytime the update is updated, that storm is moving faster and getting stronger faster...now it's supposed to be here by 1000 on Friday (tomorrow). Real life people predictions are claiming good odds that it'll be a Category Two by the time it gets here to the Lesser Antilles, but who knows? They also predict it is heading RIGHT FOR US. The three islands most likely to be hit the hardest are Martinique (south of us), Dominica (us), and Guadeloupe (north of us).

we're as completely as ready as we can be.

The Dean of the University has declared the storm a worthy emergency, so anyone who doesn't want to take MINI III doesn't have too - Ross will average the scores from the first two exams (which is what they usually do when a student has some family/other emergency that would prevent them from sitting for an exam)...she has declared this exemption for the entire class. Unfortunately, Tom is super prepared for this exam, and averaging his earlier scores wouldn't give him the grades he wants, so he's still planning on sitting the exam - I expect it will be a pretty empty room, compared to a "normal" MINI.

Things here are ok - other than the fact that MINI III is only an hour away...

We're hearing rumors of kids chartering planes off the island, spending $$$ to buy commercial flights that aren't sold out to get out of here, and struggling to get credits for the tickets they already bought for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (it's the end of the semester, and storm or not, lots of students were already planning on leaving this weekend for the break).

I am starting to get nervous, but am still pretty calm. The MINI is more stressful than the storm, as it is more immediate, and long-term, there's more riding on it. But like I said before, Tom is uber-prepared, so he'll do great.

Wish us luck!
